I enjoyed reading through the lists of banned movies, especially the different laws countries have on pornography. A bit dry, but short and quick to read. I did notice that the writer sometimes quoted large segments of Wikipedia, verbatim, including not eliminating references to footnotes. That seemed a bit short sighted and sloppy. However, I learned some new things and discovered some new movies. Worth it for that.Product details

Not a bad book but not a very good one either. If you, the reader, are ANY kind of Horror fan, nothing in this book will come as a surprise. If you are a fan of Cinema, the non-horror films will not surprise you, either. I'm sure there are better books on this subject. One highlight is a pretty comprehensive list of banned titles from countries spanning the globe and the reason for the bans. This one gets a mild recommend.
A fascinating, condensed history or banned films in the US & internationally. While I wish it were longer & a little more extensive, it is a great staring point for those interested in the subject. I do love the fact that individual countries around the world are included. Many pieces I've read on the subject of banned films focus solely (or almost exclusively) on the US. Interesting to compare what is considered offensive in one country vs. what is "offensive" in another. I would highly recommend this for anyone interested in film too.
A bore, repetitive nonsense
Eh, nothing I haven't heard before
It's ok, somewhat pedestrian. I've been doing film research since 1965,so there were not too many surprises. Might be worthwhile for someone new to the subject.
